Using sunglasses and a hat with a wide brim can help to protect your eyes and skin from the damaging effects of sun exposure. Sunglasses not only make vision more comfortable by cutting the glare of the midday sun, but they also protect the eyes from ultraviolet (UV) radiation, and in some circumstances, sharpen vision. In order to adequately protect the eyes sunglasses should block out 99 to 100 percent of both UV-A and UV-B radiation.
