The History of Elegant Optics Contacts & Family Eye Care, P.C.

After Graduating from Illinois College of optometry in 1966, Dr. Duane Polzien began practicing optometry at the Lincoln Vision Clinic. In 1979 he joined the medical staff at Nebraska's first staff model HMO (then known as Health Central and later as Health America and Mutual of Omaha Health Plan). In March of 1996 Mutual of Omaha Health Plans of Lincoln shut down their optometry department where Dr. Polzien had worked for 17 years. Within a week, he and his wife began planning and after four months of intense efforts we were able to open Elegant Optics' doors in July of 1996.
 
Dr. Polzien practiced as a solo optometrist for 8 years and continued to grow the practice over that time. In 2004 Dr. Brian Adam joined Dr. Polzien to meet the needs of this growing patient base. As a result our staff also continued to grow. Our present support staff consists of four individuals who oversee the day-to-day operation of the office.
 
At Elegant Optics we provide a full scope of optometry services including comprehensive eye health exams and treatment for various eye diseases plus a full range of vision services including contact lenses, pre- and post-LASIK surgery care, glaucoma and cataract testing, low vision care, and emergency and urgent eye care
